Intro to Medical Qigong and 5 Rhythms Qigong
Traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony and Qigong Workshops
Level 1 & 2 workshops will begin with a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony
Golden Memory Puerh and Green Dragon Oolong Teas have been selected for the ceremony.
These teas support both the rhythm and flow of qi in the body and grounding our awareness within the body.
Learn a prayer to invoke the medicinal qualities of tea into your qigong practice or any other creative endeavor and be introduced to the roots of tea culture in China and the alliance between tea and humanity.

Level One: Intro to Medical QiGong
Qi (energy) Gong (work) emphasizes the importance of adding mind intent and breathing techniques to physical movements. When these dimensions are added, the benefits of exercise increase exponentially. Practicing Medical QiGong cultivates and circulates the internal medicine within our bodies while eliminating stagnant energies.

Level Two: 5 Rhythms Qigong
Join us for a journey around the Sun in this experiential workshop. It is known that the center of our solar system is the Sun and that the rhythm and flow of nature is governed by Earths relationship to the Sun. In this 5 Rhythms Qigong workshop we will explore the nature of this relationship through the structure of the 5 elements and their rhythms in a 24 hour, annual and human life cycle.
We will learn how to cultivate and nurture a conscious relationship with these elements, the organ systems, meridians, senses, tastes, colors, characters and sounds they are associated with.
Working with the 5 Rhythms can give insight into:
- How to eat on a daily cycle to maintain qi
- How to eat seasonally for harmonization with nature
- How to move your body for each season annually
- The appropriate exercise for each season of your life cycle
- When to take action, when to rest
- How to live in harmony with nature
- Respiration, digestion & elimination
We've all heard the saying, "timing is everything", it's true. Understanding how the cycles of time affect your mind, body and emotions is the key to longevity. It is one of the most important and yet least understood aspects of owning and maintaining a body that one can poses.

About the instructor:
Cyndi Silva is a certified Medical Qigong practice leader, certified Yoga and Pilates instructor, Somatic Healing, Movement and Meditation Guide who has led mind body classes since the mid 90's. Her appreciation for practicing and sharing the healing benefits of ceremonial teas and movement as medicine is rooted in the intelligence of our body's innate healing capacity and it's deepest desire to commune with natures qi.
Through fluid movement sequences, Cyndi creates inspired and rejuvenating environments that invoke our intimate connection to nature and activates our body's healing potential to its' fullest expression. She is intuitively tuned to the rhythm and flow of natural cycles and generously shares knowledge on how to experience the healing qualities of nature's grace. Cyndi is a California Central Coast native and resident of Avila Beach.

Welcome Newcomers: I appreciate your interest in longevity and look forward to co-creating mutual wellness and inspired living.
Avila Beach QiGong sessions are initiated by tracking the tide, the weather and instructor availability to determine the optimal time and day for the prime location. Thus, there's not a consistent day and time that we meet according to the calendar. When the next session is determined an email invitation, with as much advance notice as possible, is delivered to those on the list.
We meet at the South end of Avila Beach (aka Fossil Point) during low tide. Parking can be an issue, arrive in time to find a parking spot and walk to the South end of the beach. It's acceptable to join in late or leave early if necessary, although arriving on time and staying the duration offers the benefit of a full practice. The outdoor QiGong classes are 50 minutes, open to all levels on a drop in basis, the fee is $10.

Pass Mulligans and the Pro Shop and you will see the clubhouse on the right...
Go up the stairs to the second level deck and I'll meet you there.

No experience required. The gentle, life enhancing movements and breathing exercises of QiGong are surprisingly effective and universally supportive for all levels of strength, endurance and flexibility. Dress accordingly for weather and participate at your comfort level. Shoes are optional, if you're comfortable in bare feet, that's ideal.
